I am extremely excited to re-release the first two episodes of the Grendel Uprising series. Anyone who has followed my page might remember that I pulled these not-quite-novellas. Time was an issue. I was struggling to produce on schedule. The idea of completing a new 15k to 30k story, getting it professionally edited, and then corrected and produced each and every month was like a punch in the gut.
Did I really think I could do this ten more times?
Things have changed. Thanks to a reevaluation of goals and daily priorities, I have been logging consistent hours at the keyboard (and words!) for some time now. Keeping up with the Episode-a-month schedule for Grendel Uprising is now much more realistic and exciting.
A professional editor (BZHercules) was used on Episode 1 and 2 prior to publications and she is my preferred editor for the rest of the series. But wait, that's not all! The new book covers from probookcovers.com just arrived.
Thanks for checking in today. I hope all is well and good with you and yours. Please come back for the reveal of Episode3: Heavy Weapons next month.

In the spirit of a good call-to-action, I would like to ask for a favor. If you enjoy these science fiction / historical adventures, please leave a short honest review on Amazon. For me, that is the absolute best thing ever.
Proof of Death
I am in the process of making Proof of Death permanently free on various ebook distribution platforms. This should take effect in a week or so. For now, both episodes are only $0.99 at Amazon.
Police Paranormal went through many working titles and was originally titled Die Like A Man. After lengthy consideration and a lot of banging my head on the desk, I decided that the new title better described the story and will, I hope, be of more use to readers.
The change should be completed on Amazon Kindle withing twenty-four hours. The paperback versions will temporarily retain the old cover and title.
Thank you for your time,
The powerful imagery of the setting struck me with surprising clarity today. I can imagine the late-nineteen century city as winter obscures the alien machines dominate the sky. The other day I woke up and Googled Norwegian Tall Ships to help paint a picture in this new fictional worlds. I see the technology of dirigibles and steam-engines being pitted against advanced technology of alien races...but not too soon. The story set-up is character driven with a high stakes plot impinging on every personal decision and disaster.

More Than Steampunk
I have read a handful of steampunk novels. Her Majesty the Queen is not intended to fit neatly into that genre. As with much of my writing, there will be some kind of Alien / Predator influence, a bit of the Outlaw Josey Wales meets Indiana Jones, and some good science fiction classics if all goes well. In the past, my predilection to stomp across genre lines has made my books harder to market, but whatever. I am just trying to write the best story I can. I think that means I must entertain Scott Moon first and then hope other readers get a kick out the story as well.
So why isn't this steampunk?
The premise (which will be explored in much greater depth near publication) is designed to cause worlds (of all technology levels) to collide. I actually began to write the second part of this story first, and the characters are less reminiscent of the steam age and more similar to the Greatest Generation. Basically, my imagination is all over the universe on this one. Good times! :)
Please check back for updates on this project.
Last spring, 2015, I outlined a twelve episode series, a crossover story between science fiction and historical fiction. I wrote three of the episodes and published two of them. Now I have decided to put the project on hold due to other projects and commitments. If you have read Proof of Death or Blood Royal and loved them, do not disrepair, the entire series will be back bigger and better than ever. This was an incredibly hard decision.
